This readme file provides basic information on the data set used in Ihle, D. and Siebert-Meyerhoff, A. (forthcoming), The Evolution of Immigrants’ Homeownership in Germany, Jahrbücher für Nationalökonomie und Statistik. 

The analyses are based on data from the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP). The data are confidential and therefore not included in this contribution. However, they are not exclusive.

The regional house price data used in the analysis are from an external data source and were merged to the SOEP data. They stem from the BulwienGesa AG. A description of the determination of the house price index as well as information on how to obtain the data can be found under the following link: https://www.bulwiengesa.de/de/leistungsprogramm/daten .

The .txt do-files included in the data archive are:

- 1_merge data.txt to construct the data set,
- 1.2_partner.txt to merge partner information,
- 2_prepare data.txt to prepare the data set,
- 3_descriptive statistics.txt for the descriptive statistics,
- 4_decomposition.txt for the regression and decomposition analysis,
- 5_quality.txt for the analysis of housing quality.
